Lesbian murder accused to face the music

24 July 2009: Trial to the murder of Eudy Simelane is resuming at Delmas Circuit Court on 29 – 31 July 2009. This time only three of the four accused, who pleaded not guilty, will appear in court as one of the accused who pleaded guilty is already serving a 31 years sentence.

Lesbians and HIV - low risk is not no risk

14 July 2009 - Women who sleep with women (WSW) are not at risk of HIV transmission - or are they? AIDS advocates warn that it is time for a wake-up call about who is and is not at risk.

HIV prevention among WSW and lesbian women remains off the prevention agenda, said Beverley Palesa Ditsie, a founding member of the Gay and Lesbian Organization of the Witwatersrand.

Fund set to respond to gender based violence

09 July 2009 - Concerned about gender based violence, rapidly spiraling out of control in South Africa, a group of committed donors have established a Joint Gender Fund with the aim to provide grants to civil society organisations in support of projects that integrate fighting gender based violence and HIV and AIDS.
