Civil Union:
Nomonde Mafunda & Tumi Ndweni's gay marriage

March 6, 2007:t Krugersdorp Home Affairs, Johannesburg

.

Nomonde Mafunda (grey suit) & Tumi Ndweni (pink shirt) have been together since 2000, and in 2007 they decided
to formalise their union. They got married in March under the new Civil Union Act passed by the South African government.
"Us" given the right to marry does not mean that service providers and marriage officers are (emotionally /physically)
equiped for this work. There is still a need for our government to educate MO on sexual orientation and difference.

On the wedding day we were shocked by the rudeness of a man wearing a check shirt (appearing on the above photos)
who constantly spoke on his cellphone during the proceedings therefore disrespecting the couple. However, as the two
were meant to be together for life they were patient enough until he was done with his conversation.
